Dr David Colley is an experienced SEN teacher, author and University academic who offers training and consultancy to schools and specialist settings in Europe and across the UK.

​

After twenty years of teaching and supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs in schools, David is currently an associate lecturer with Oxford Brookes University and the Course Adviser/ tutor on the SEBDA Mental Health courses.

​

David is co-editor of the teacher training resource text 'Attachment and Emotional Development in the Classroom' (2017) and his research interests include nurture group practice and the emotional well being of children and young people.

 

As an experienced keynote speaker, David has presented to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2018) and to international Conferences across the world (ENSEC Budapest 2019; Stockholm 2017; University of the Algarve 2019; University of Delhi 2020) . He joined the DFE Steering Group that refreshed the 'Mental Health and Behaviour guidance to schools (2018) and was Chair of SEBDA from 2016-19. The findings of  his latest research project on secondary school nurture groups, completed in collaboration with the Mulberry Bush Organisation UK, is due for publication in June 2021.

 

David's online training sessions have been designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of staff based in Primary, Secondary and International Schools . All SEN training sessions are delivered live and online by Dr Colley through a video conferencing platform.

Consultancy, SEN reviews and SEN evaluations can also be commissioned along with whole school training, CPD and INSET training.
